WHAT PLUGINS ARE NOT AUTHORIZED WITH MY SERVICE?

OVERVIEW

Kenotronix Managed WordPress Plans are NOT just WordPress - they are heavily modified wrappers designed for optimal WordPress hosting and comprehensive security. As such, some WordPress features and plugins are not available, just as there are other features specific to managed WordPress that are not available on a normal WordPress installation. To achieve this, we blacklist and remove a number of plugins known to cause security or performance issues.

This list uses the name of the folder that the extension creates when you install it. You can view this directory by logging into your WordPress account administered via sFTP.

NOTE:

This is not an exhaustive list of unauthorized plugins. Any plugins that fall into these categories or are known to cause problems may be added to the list or disabled at any time without notice.

UNAUTHORIZED PLUGINS

Duplicate functionality - Backups

These plugins duplicate our existing backup and restore functionality. We have seen these extensions cause problems for customers because they use too many resources to create archive files (tar / gzip / zip) and we have also seen misconfigured extensions creating recursive backups and thereby sites exceeding the amount of storage allocated.

  • 6scan-backup
  • backupwordpress
  • backwpup
  • ezpz-one-click-backup
  • the-codetree-backup
  • Updraft
  • wponlinebackup

Recommended alternatives
We back up your files and database daily and keep it for 30 days. You can use our control panel to easily restore your site to a previous version.

To back up your site on demand, you can use SFTP access and a database backup extensions like WP-DB-Backup or WP-DBManager.
